Tech pack for a streetwear brand: how ICON Amsterdam stayed ahead of production problems
The challenge
ICON Amsterdam was working on a collection with multiple models and color variants, intended for production by external manufacturers. The existing documentation left too much room for interpretation — and a manufacturer always pays for that leeway at your expense or your quality.
The request was specific: technical documentation that an external supplier can execute without further explanation. No non-standard samples. No correction rounds that cost time and money.
What we have made
The starting point was ICON's existing samples and fabric swatches. From there, technical drawings were created for each model in Adobe Illustrator, supplemented with all the specifications a manufacturer needs to get the first sample right:
- a graduated size chart per model
- a “how to measure” manual tailored to the ICON fit
- fabric specifications per variant: weight, composition, and color coding
- joint and finishing instructions at component level
The result
ICON now has documentation that is reusable — with the same manufacturer in a subsequent run, and with a new supplier, without having to reinvent the wheel.
Do you want to know if your documentation is production-proof?
If your manufacturer ever sent back samples with questions — or if you yourself doubt whether your current tech pack has enough detail — that is the time to see what is missing.
Send in your design. In a no-obligation 30-minute consultation, we will look together at what your tech pack should contain.
